FMF Continuum of Care
Families Moving Forward (FMF) Foundations:
FMF Foundations (formerly the Families Moving Forward (FMF) Program) is a CDC-recommended, evidence-based behavioral intervention for families raising children (ages 3 to 13) with prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) or FASD, and challenging behavior. Best suited for mental health providers, it offers ready-to-use materials and clinical strategies that are well organized to support families navigating complex situations, including early adversity and family stress.
- Web-based clinician materials (core parent resources available in Spanish)
- Flexible delivery: home, clinic, or telehealth (often insurance-billable)
- Professional training and clinical support available through the Florida Center and Seattle Children’s
Families Moving Forward (FMF) Connect PRO:
FMF Connect Pro is a resource and training program for mental health therapists. It is based on FMF Foundations. It is ideal for therapists with entry-level knowledge about FASD. It may also be a good fit for behavioral health settings with brief or variable session frequency. FMF Connect Pro teaches therapists how to screen and diagnose FASD using a system appropriate for mental health settings. Therapists also learn how to do FASD-informed care, including supporting caregivers using the FMF Connect app.
Families Moving Forward (FMF) Connect:
FMF Connect is a smartphone app for parents and caregivers raising preschool and school-aged children with FASD. The FMF Connect app is based on the original FMF Program (now known as FMF Foundations). The app also includes unique features to help help families learn and connect with other caregivers who understand.
Families Moving Forward (FMF) Connect Teacher Companion Website:
The FMF Connect Teacher Companion website is an FASD-informed website for teachers and school staff to help in learning about FASD and supporting their students with FASD. The website includes materials from FMF Foundations and FMF Connect, which were modified in collaboration with educational professionals. The website is self-directed and includes information, videos, and resources. The FMF Connect Teacher Companion Website was designed and tested by Carson Kautz-Turnbull, M.A.
Specialized Neurodevelopmental Assessment & Consultation Service (SNACS Clinic):
The SNACS Clinic provides specialized assessments and consultation to help families better understand and support youth (ages 3 to 17) with prenatal substance exposure and early adversity. The expert SNACS team offers clear insights into a child’s developmental and behavioral needs, along with personalized recommendations to guide their care. Through evaluations, parenting support, and collaborative consultation— including with schools and care teams— the SNACS team equips families with practical strategies and connections to valuable resources. The clinic’s goal is to empower families with the knowledge and support needed to help their child thrive. Materials and methods include key elements of the FMF Foundations intervention.
Families Moving Forward Bridges (FMF Bridges) is an FASD-informed early intervention designed to meet the specific needs of young children affected by prenatal alcohol exposure and to support their caregivers. Now in research development, FMF Bridges merges key components of FASD-informed care (from FMF Foundations), with family-centered and relationship-based early intervention practices. FMF Bridges is designed to be delivered by specially trained early intervention providers in community-based birth to three settings.
